TITLE: IN-WORK - Inclusive Communities at Work

RUNTIME: from 01.11.2022 to 31.10.2024

SHORT DESCRIPTION: The project specific objective is to design, develop, pilot and validate a model of intervention to enlarge the universities networks to mainstream a culture of inclusion and support the life design of youths with special needs through work-integrated learning activities.

To do so, the project aims to:
- Exchange data and identify main obstacles or success elements to insertion to work of youths with special needs and identify, if any, place-based characteristics that could hinder of favour the process
- Design process and procedures, pedagogically sound, to increase the openness of the university within the place, and promote an inclusive culture
- Engage stakeholders for joint learning activities, including work-based learning provisions (internship and traineeship)
- Jointly design, develop and implement work-integrated learning programmes inside and outside the university, also through extra-curricular activities
- Train the trainers, therefore provide learning opportunities to professors, supervisors and support staff on approaches and methods for work-integrated learning for inclusion
- Pilot the programmes for at least one semester
- Collect evaluation data, analyse them, revise the programme, identify strengths and weaknesses and reflect on lessons learnt to provide a transferrable model to other higher education institutions.
The focus on work-integrated learning activities, both for higher education students and youths belonging to the reference community, is expected to:
- Increase integration of people with special needs into the community
- Enhance the role of the university as an inclusive organisation working toward inclusive communities
- Support civic engagement of all higher education students and stakeholders
